Please give us a short summary of your website?
Dilly Baby features unique hip maternity tees for the stylish mom-to-be. Dilly Baby's garments are 100% cotton, pre-shrunk, and made in the USA. They are hand-dyed and hand-printed. For that reason, each one is unique, just like the mommies that wear them!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The owner, Aimee Ortlieb, wanted to start her own line of hip maternity clothes. We colaborated and have just launched our own site.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is our first website. It was launched June 3rd.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Aimee calls her son "dilly", and thus thought of Dilly Baby.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
The shirts Dilly Baby offers are unique and hip and relative to today's young mom. We found that it was difficult to find unique maternity tshirts that didn't have a "cheesy" saying on them.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We'd like to feature baby clothes as well and maybe some women's non-maternity shirts. Another option would be to have our line sold in stores and boutiques nationwide.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We felt this was a good investment of time and money for the potential success of a business such as this.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would make it all encompasing. Right now we have Yahoo servicing our shopping cart and orders. It would be nice to have it all incoorporated into our site.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes. We'd find help.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None as of yet.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Estimating our initial inventory order and putting the website together.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We've just started the promotion of our site. So far, word-of-mouth has been our best success.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
We didn't have any expectations!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It hasn't been a week yet. We will see how things go month-to-month.
Is there anything unique about your business?
We are two stay at home moms who have done everything over the internet! We met on a forum and have never met in real life.
