What is the name of your Blog?Cloud of Secrets
What is your name?
Sarah

Wisconsin, United States
What is your current age or age range?
Thirtysomething
Please describe your blog
You'll find thoughts and photographs on beauty, clothing and accessories I treasure or covet, decorating, films, and books.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I have a mundane blog elsewhere for day-to-day activities, deep thoughts about life and my place in the world, and family photographs. I wanted a hidden (really very public, I know) place where I could explore prettiness, luxury, color, and style.
What do you blog the most about?
So far, vintage accessories and fashion images I've saved for a while.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1. I really like uniform image sizes -- doing as much as possible in 400x400, for example, or 400x600. I'm getting there. I think it makes a blog look classy and professional.
2. Try to keep the advertising clutter down. Monetization is great if your blog deserves an income, but don't let ads overwhelm your own content.
3. Don't post embarassing photos of others without their permission. This includes your young children. People all over the world can see this stuff, and their motives might not be kind.
4. Proofread for spelling and grammar. I make mistakes, too, but I try to keep my sentences flowing with as few errors as possible. My favorite blog readers love reading in general, and they're sensitive to clean writing.
5. I'm sure I'll think of something brilliant shortly after I click "submit."
How long have you been blogging?
Eight years.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
0-2 hours, depending on what projects I'm brewing.
If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?
I would love to appear as a style example in the Sartorialist. I doubt he'll ever come to Wisconsin, though!
What are your top five blogging site picks and why?
http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/: clear, illuminated, inspiring photos of how real people dress themselves for the day.
http://citified.blogspot.com/: the prettiness and luxury evoked by her blog inspired mine. She was featured recently in Lucky Magazine.
http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/: another early inspiration: doing and making bright things, and sharing vivid photographs of them.
http://laceandtea.com/: more pretty imagery in a well-cultivated style blog.
http://videtur.livejournal.com/: Sorrell, an artist and historical costumer, leads an amazing life in France.
Have you met anyone offline as a result of your blog?
Not this one, yet! But I've met dozens of RL friends due to my personal "mundane" blog elsewhere.
