Ukay-ukay shopping

Here in the Philippines, thrift shops also thrive in different areas around the country. A lot of Filipinos, especially those who can't afford to buy expensive and designer clothes, shoes and bags go to these thrift shops, which we call ukay-ukay.

Perhaps, they're called ukay-ukay, because it's a dialect translation for sorting or rummaging. Don't you literally rummage through all those piles of clothes when you go to these shops?

Some people also call the items here as pre-loved items, especially the designer stuff. Others used to love them and now they're being sold to willing buyers who also want to have a chance to love these items that they can never afford to buy at their original prices.
