Please give us a short summary of your website?
Zone4Kids features a variety of fashionable clothing for children for special occasions such as christenings, weddings or holiday parties as well as quality everyday wear for active children. We also carry the accessories to compliment any of the outfits. In addition to clothing we carry gifts, furnishings and room decor. These items can be personalized with a child's name and adorned with hand-painted themes of your choice or from a variety of artwork samples by our talented artist.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We launched Zone4Kids as a boutique website to bring our store to a larger audience looking for selection and unique ideas in children's clothing, accessories, gifts and furnishings. We also wanted to make shopping more convenient than standard retail hours.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Zone4Kids was launched in 2006 after 10 years of managing a children's retail boutique.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name of the website is meant to draw people in when they are shopping for anything related to children.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Zone4Kids is unique in depth and scope of products. Zone4Kids has something for everyone's criteria, be it price or style.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Zone4Kids is passionate about bringing new products to customers. The goal is to continue to grow the business bringing new selections and ideas to customers.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We have invested a lot of time organizing and presenting products in an easy to find format for the site. We know parents have very little time to be surfing the web so we wanted to make it easy. So far that technique is paying off and the business is starting to grow. We get wonderful compliments from customers on how easy it is to find what they need.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
With an unlimited development budget we would spend more on SEO to get our site out there to that bigger audience we always wanted.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, if we got really big, really quickly we would be able to keep up with demand since we have great relationships with our suppliers and processes in place to handle it.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Just the usual website start up headaches with getting indexed and ranked.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Our biggest challenge has been climbing our way up in the search results.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We have been very successful in a few pay per click programs that has helped to bring in the traffic that would otherwise not find us in the first couple pages of search results.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Running the website was very different than expected. It opened up a whole SEO world that we didn't know very much about.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
