One of the very first things that a would-be fresh college graduate will have to encounter is his/her very first job interviews. Looking for that very first job can be both exciting and nervous at the same time--getting through the first interview must be part of the nervous component.
And when we talk about the job interview, it already goes without saying that we're also going to talk about the clothes that you have to wear during that job interview. The clothes that you have to wear really depends on the industry where the company is placed in, the company culture, and the weather, perhaps.
In general, it is a rule for men to wear a coat and tie during a job interview, highlighting the serious nature of the event. This is especially true for higher positions, like executives, which require formal interviews from people high up in the corporate hierarchy. For lower positions, however, sometimes a long-sleeved polo-style shirt is already enough. In one of my interviews, I even wore a half-length shirt because the interviewer just asked me to come in business casual attire. It's also advisable to wear dark-colored socks and make sure that they can go up near to your knees.
For women, you can also wear a suit and suit shirts, though anything that is close to formal should be enough. The rules on formality are a bit less stricter when it comes to women. Jewelry should be limited to earrings, however. Put those excessive jewelry pieces back in your home. Experts also advise that closed sandals should be worn during this event.
But then again, this strictness is for jobs that are mostly related to management. In the industry where I am in, information technology, companies are really not that strict when it comes to clothing. I even know one company that is OK with interviewees coming in with their jeans. But then again I still wore mu business casual attire because I found jeans to be a bit inappropriate for the job interview.
