Soffe is a company website that offers consumers a wide selection of authentic branded Soffe sportswear and athletic wear.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
To promote the Soffe brand and offer Soffe products online to consumers.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Soffe.com was launched around 1999. At that time it was only an informational site for B2B (business) customers.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We used our brand name for the address of the website.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Soffe manufactures the most popular cheerleader "practice" shorts. Any high school or college age girl knows about or wears Soffe branded shorts.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We want to continue to grow the Soffe brand. Our website is one of the best ways to stay in direct contact with our consumers and get feedback about what they want.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The Soffe website has been very successful and well worth the time and effort that was put into getting us to where we are today.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would make the site more interactive than it is now. Utilizing some of the newest technologies available with "Web 2.0" and Social Networking. Most of the focus would be the newest area of the Soffe website, the Soffe Fan Club. www.soffefanclub.com
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Our site has already grown over 200% in the last 16 months, and we have kept up very well. As we continue to grow we will expand our web server to meet the growing demands of web traffic.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
So far we have not had to deal with any major issues like that.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding new avenues to create more traffic and increase conversions on the site.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Search Engine Optimization would be the most successful method. (thanks Google)
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
We did not expect such a explosion of growth in the past 2 years as we have received.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The Soffe website has been online for about 8 years now.
