A shirt is a shirt and pants are pants. Yes there are differences between what looks good on us and what doesn't depending on your body type and certain differences in cuts of cloth. However, when something really becomes popular (read a lot of people go out and buy it), the mass of people purchasing the item is the process behind trend setting, not the so called "trend setters". The stock market is the same way in it's unreasonable sheep herding mentality. People tend to follow what someone considered a trend setter says and therefore the stock in question rises in price thanks to people buying it. Once the average person realizes that it is they and not the "gods" of fashion that makes things popular, maybe society will become a better place. Right now unfortunately, many people are sheep and can't think for themselves.
