Solves plus size evening dresses dilemna.
We have search all online and have located plus size evening and cocktail dresses for women over size 10. We actually go up to size 44 in our dresses. Women in Europe search and locate our website daily so we see there is a need in the Uk for plus size clothing.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Women all over the world get involved with their everyday life and may find themselves wearing a size 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, or 44. These women still want to look and feel beautiful. I'm a size 18/20 and I can relate. I want to show that women can be beautiful no matter what size they are. This website is very close to my heart and I basically want to share what I've found. Plus size women no longer have to buy matronly clothing.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was a military transition blog www.veteransinmotion.blogspot.com and then it was a cocktail dress blog at www.cocktaildressesandheels.com site. I wanted to help people leaving the military and help women feel beautiful. I'm a retired female from the military but was able to hold on to being a lady. I love clothes, beauty, and helping others. In my past I was a makeup consultant, while in the military, and wanted to show what a woman in the military could be lady like. I retired after serving 22 years in the US Air Force.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I'm a plus size woman and I had no idea that there were beautifil clothing online for us. I want to share what I've found. My website is made to build the confidence of a plus size woman no matter what country she is in.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
My plus size website is personable. It's not a store website. It's a website from a plus size woman. I experience with my visitors experience. I'm genuine.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My eventual goal is to continue to share with my 12,000 plus visitors that there is a plus size clothing solution. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. This is the first website I designed my hand it the theme meant so much to me that I learned how to design websites without little training.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
This is not about pure profit. This is about what I experience and other plus size women experience. I have learned search engine optimization to advertise my site so I may not have the marketing expense like other websites. I make a little profit but not enough to live on. My heart is into this site more than anything. It's needed. With the last couple of years I've had this site it's earning more, it's because the need it there. I have many visitors from the UK and would like to expose our efforts to more.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I wouldn't change my site. The only thing I may decide to do is follow the strategies of www.stopworkingforthem.com and redesign it upon these principles.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely! My website is an affiliate website and I change the items for sale as they become available.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not too many. I've learned search engine optimization to where my expenses are low.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning all of the things I've learned in a short period of time!
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
SEO.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Well, when I first started, I was all about the theme. Later I discovered there was a science to websites. So while maintaining my theme, I learned the science of the internet. Which wasn't easy. It took time and trial and error. I have exceeded my expectations by learning how the search engines work. Most of my traffic is free traffic.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
My site has been up since 2006 and it will be up as long as I'm living.
What are my future goals?
To continue to share with plus size women the beautiful fashions that are online. I want for plus size women to know that they can be beautiful. Thanks for your time.
